Ngaitahu Energy Limited was formed to commercialise the work and research done on Wood Energy. Since 1988 the Ngaitahu have had control of their lands and all the resources in and around them. Forestry is one of the major elements of this. However, there are millions of cubic meters of timber/lumber for sale on the world market. So there had to be a better method of improving the profitability of the resource.
The Ngaitahu control 71,000 square hectares of regrowth pine forests in the South Island of New Zealand so the various efforts to devise a higher value product for sale out of what we have. My Brother and I set about the commercialisation of academic projects that showed real promise, especially with the advent of global influencing nations embracing the real issues of global warming and CO2 production that sheet this problem back to the feet of the fossil fuel industry.
We now have Pilot plants in trains for NZ and Australia that will help the reduction of CO2 while keeping the base load rotating generators turning Industry running and we all can see at night when it gets dark. At the same capturing and storing [locking up the CO2].
